Sarah Sunshine Pottery: A Maker-Made Pottery Boutique in Black Mountain, NC.
Hurricane Helene

Dear friends,
Thank you for reaching out. As many of you know, Black Mountain and the whole Swannanoa Valley suffered incredible devastation from Hurricane Helene. Personally, both my house and pottery studio, as well as kiln shed and clay supply sustained significant damage from wind, falling trees, and hurricane driven rains.
Mercifully, the store on Cherry Street is intact, and in fact is OPEN again!
We are able to take online orders and are shipping them as quickly as possible. If your order has been delayed, it is because I am still making your item. I am making the ordered pieces as I am able. Making pottery is so healing, but surviving this hurricane is still taking most of my time, and there is a long road of recovery ahead. Appreciate your understanding and your support.
Meanwhile, I set up a Go Fund Me site to help recover lost wages during what is typically our busiest sales season of the year. And soon I will have ways to use gift cards to directly support more members of this community too.
Love you all so much. Thank you for continuing to support me on this pottery journey.
Sarah
March, 2025 Update:
Our path to recovery from Helene is long and ongoing. It is important to know that downtown Black Mountain is OPEN, and we welcome you to come stay in our sweet area and shop in our historical district. Thank you! Truly. This is how we recover. Thank you.
Also know that many homes are still in need of repair, like my own. The level of destruction was just so overwhelming that it will take time to fix. We are all doing what we can. Appreciate all of you so very much.

I have eleven signature glazes that are each made from scratch, and are unique to Sarah Sunshine Pottery. These each have names, which makes the ordering process so much easier. I currently make the Spruce Knob, Greybeard, Black Mountain, White Pine, Blue Ridge, Midnight, Lillian, Purple, Iris, and Swannanoa Series.
Please refer to the glaze gallery to determine what style of pottery you want, and then order each piece using the drop down menu to specify the glaze pattern and size.

Not all of these pieces are in stock at all times, this is the beauty of being handmade one at a time. Often I will make your pottery as soon as I receive the order, so there could be a delay in shipping. You are always welcome to call the store and make an order by phone too, 828-333-1884. If there is a specific shape or size you are trying to match from the shop or a former purchase, please send us a message or call. Each piece is handmade, and as such the shapes and sizes vary over time and seasons.
